Canton is a public blockchain that lets financial institutions and applications transact together while keeping sensitive information private.

The network is public, but its business data is shared selectively. Joining Canton does not make every participant’s transactions visible to everyone else.

Canton gives applications a common way to coordinate. An asset in one application can be exchanged against a payment in another, while each application retains its own access rules.

Application providers decide who can access their services. A shared network can support applications with different participation requirements.
